One special event that is a popular destination is Opera in the Ozarks at Inspiration Point. This incredible production is a unique program and festival founded in 1950. Affiliated with the National Federation of Music Clubs, (NFMC), Opera in the Ozarks has earned the reputation of being a prominent training program for all singers interested in pursuing a career in opera.

Opera in the Ozarks

This year’s repertoire includes Madama Butterfly, L’elisir d’amore and The Pirates of Penzance. The history of Madama Butterfly is about an American Naval officer named Pinkerton who is stationed in Japan and marries a young Japanese women from a well- to-do family. However, to him, it is just a big lark. When he gets transferred back to the US he marries an American girl. When he finds out that Butterfly has had his child, he and his wife go back to Japan to get the child. Very dramatic and a story not to be forgotten. Don’t miss this beautiful play that has so much meaning and feeling.

Be sure to bring a tissue!

For schedule and tickets information, please go to Opera.org and be a part of this annual event!!!! And take the time to enjoy the beauty of the Ozarks and Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Any of our inns will be happy to fill you in on all of the things there are to do in our wonderful little getaway.
