The Secret Season in Eureka Springs, Arkansas

December 3rd, 2013 by babiesblog

There’s a little secret that not many people know – Eureka Springs is open in the winter. Weather here can be cold and we do sometimes get snow, but it’s not a given. (And actually, a little snow can be quite beautiful in our little mountain town!)

And it’s very, very quiet. That is preferable for a lot of folks who don’t like the crowds and the noise that a busy festival weekend can bring during the season. From about mid-December on into March, the crowds are gone. You can discover all kinds of hidden gems! There are restaurants, spas, galleries and shops open. Turpentine Creek, our wonderful wildlife refuge just outside of town, is open every day of the year except Christmas. Olden Days Carriage Rides run on winter weekends (depending on weather and temps), which can be an awesome way to see the historic downtown, tucked away under a heated blanket with something hot to drink. Cafe Roulant, a new “rolling cafe” will be operating during winter (this is new in 2013). Ghost tours continue in winter. Nightclubs and bars are still open, with music humming. Visit the Eureka Springs Historical Museum. Go over to the world-class Crystal Bridges Museum in Bentonville (a one-hour, scenic drive). Take a van tour around Eureka Springs and learn its history as you travel in a cozy, warm vehicle.

If none of those ideas get you here, just think about coming to “chill out” – a nice lunch or dinner out with your loved one, followed by a cozy movie or game in front of your private fireplace. A warm Jacuzzi bath, a glass of wine – all in the privacy and comfort of your bed and breakfast. That’s all you really need to do. And we have some of the best B&Bs in the state of Arkansas. Just come see for yourself. Check us out at RelaxEureka.com. You’ll find the secret of the “Secret Season” in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.
